Krzysztof Hetman

Member of the European Parliament, COM AGRI

A graduate of the Faculty of Political Science at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin. In 2002, he completed postgraduate studies at the Higher School of Entrepreneurship and Administration in Lublin.

He began his professional career in 1999 at an Open Pension Fund. From July 2002 to August 2005, he worked as Deputy Director, and subsequently, until May 2007, as Director of the Regional Development Department at the Marshal’s Office in Lublin. He was responsible, among other tasks, for spatial planning in the Lublin Voivodeship, implementing and coordinating actions related to the realization of the Lublin Voivodeship Strategy for 2005-2020, the Regional Contract, and the Integrated Regional Operational Program (IROP).

From December 2007 to December 2010, he served as Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Regional Development. He was responsible for matters related to the implementation of the “Development of Eastern Poland” Program, the European Territorial Cooperation (ETC) Programs, and the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument for 2007-2013, as well as for coordinating the implementation of regional programs.

He is the Vice President of the Polish People’s Party (PSL), and since June 2010, he has also held the position of President of the Provincial Board of PSL in Lublin.

From 2010 to 2014, he served as the Marshal of the Lublin Voivodeship. In June 2014, he was elected as a Member of the European Parliament, a position he held until October 2023.

From November 2023 to June 2024, he served as a Member of the Polish Parliament (Sejm). On December 13, 2023, he was appointed Minister of Development and Technology.

Currently, he serves as a Member of the European Parliament. In the European Parliament, he is a member of the Committee on Regional Development, the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Delegation for relations with Central Asia. Additionally, he serves as a substitute member of the Committee on Industry, Research, and Energy, as well as the Delegation for relations with Japan.
